Influenza vaccine

The flu season is (unfortunately) coming!
From 15 October 2023 to 1 March 2024, the influenza flu vaccination will be offered through the national vaccination programme. With the influenza vaccination, you reduce the chances of you and your baby contracting the influenza flu in the first 3 months after birth.

It is important to go through the information on this carefully. It will help you make a considered choice. You can read all the relevant information online here. The vaccination is available from 22 weeks of pregnancy, as is the whooping cough vaccination. More information about making an appointment for the vaccination at the health centre will follow in the 16-week e-mail you receive from us during your pregnancy. Do you have any questions? Feel free to ask them to the midwife at your check-up, or call during the telephone consultation hour from Monday to Friday between 13.30 and 14.00 at 030 - 231 1376.
If you have a medical indication and were invited for the flu vaccination via your GP in previous years, you will also be notified via your GP this year. You can then simply make an appointment for the flu vaccination through your GP. The appointment can then take place before or after 22 weeks of pregnancy.
